Help Judi Haskins Beat Cancer
Donation protected
Hello, everyone. I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my sister Judi, a selfless, and incredibly busy mom of three beautiful daughters and wife to Ryan. Judi has a good heart and spirit, and in their almost eleven years of marriage, she and Ryan have built a wonderful family. For those who know Judi, you have undoubtedly witnessed her love for her family, her incredible work ethic, and her “go-get-em” attitude.
In July of 2018, after getting a routine mammogram, Judi received the shock of a lifetime. At 44 years young, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She never felt a lump, never really felt unwell, and had always been healthy and active. Suddenly, she was facing a very serious diagnosis. However, being strong willed and courageous, Judi faced the diagnosis of breast cancer. In September, after her two oldest daughters Avery (5) and Shelby (9) had safely started school, and Finley (2) continued with daycare, Judi underwent a double mastectomy and lymphadenectomy. Almost all 28 lymph nodes removed were cancerous, but luckily doctors caught it just in time and the cancer had not spread further. After healing from surgery, she would undergo eight rounds of chemotherapy, 6 weeks of daily radiation, and five years of hormone therapy with the intent of keeping her hormone-sensitive cancer from reappearing.
Life has certainly become challenging for the Haskins family. Thankfully, they've had good support from family, friends, and coworkers with meals, childcare, and house and yard work. They are so grateful for all of the help and support. Judi's strength and motivation to fight comes from that support and from her family. Both she and Ryan have tried to keep life as normal as possible for their young girls throughout. But as you can imagine, trying to keep up with the daily routines of work, school, and childcare on top of the challenge of cancer treatment has taken a toll physically, emotionally, and most distressing, financially.
For three months, Judi was unable to work at her job while recovering from surgery and taking on chemo treatments. Many generous coworkers donated their sick time to her, but after using the maximum 6 weeks of donated leave which was allowed, it ran out. Most recently, she was able to return to working a modified schedule, but the brutal side effects of treatment makes her have to claim much reduced hours. She does have good insurance, but the out of pocket portions of treatment and decreased paychecks are providing a great deal of financial stress. Ryan has tried to pick up extra work in addition to his full time job, but it's been difficult on top of everything else.
Let’s show Judi, Ryan and family some love and help her fight this awful cancer battle. The stress of having to provide for one’s family should not have to completely worry this beautiful family. Please partner with us to help Judi continue to fight her battle free from the added worry of financial hardship. Anything you can donate will be truly appreciated. Judi and Ryan are not expecting this, but your financial help will allow them to stay focused on fighting this cancer with the best spirit and energy possible. Please spread the word. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
