As many of you know, my good friend Jonathan "Jonah" Guzman was diagnosed at age 20 with stage IV Synovial sarcoma in November of 2017. This is a rare type of cancer that occurs in the soft tissue around the arms and legs. In Jonah's case, the mass presented itself in his right knee. After several rounds of chemotherapy and almost a year of treatments, the decision for amputation was made in September of 2018. Now, this has bought Jonah time, but unfortunately there are other masses in both his lungs and groin that are not responding to chemo or any other experimental treatments. The doctors have also found blood clots that have formed as well that are going to try to be treated. As you can imagine this has taken an overwhelming toll on Jonah both physically and mentally. Because Jonah is not a candidate for the Make-A-Wish foundation due to his age, we are asking friends and those who call him family to help make his wish a reality. His wish is to go to Disneyland for the first time with those who he considers his family. Also, as he has very limited family, we are also trying to be proactive in getting funds in place for a celebration of life service. We do not want this to be a burden that Jonah carries alone nor something that he worries about in the coming months. In the last couple of weeks it has been made clear that we will need to make this trip to Disneyland this summer when Jonah feels well enough and is cleared to travel. If you feel it placed on your heart to help support financially, we thank you so much! Also, equally as important, we are asking for continued prayer as we come around Jonah to show our love and support. Thank you to everyone in advance. -The Hernandez Family
