Jonah Nelson’s life changed forever on Friday, February 6, 2026, when he was involved in a horrific motor vehicle accident that tragically took the life of his mother.
Jonah was ejected from the vehicle and remains hospitalized, where he is in significant pain and being closely monitored by trauma doctors, neurologists, and orthopedic specialists as he begins a long and uncertain recovery.
Jonah sustained multiple serious injuries, including:
- Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
- Large laceration to his head
- Broken ribs
- Broken wrist
- Bruised lungs
- Extensive bruising and pain throughout his body
In addition to these physical injuries, Jonah is now facing the unimaginable emotional loss of his mom while trying to heal.
Despite the severity of the crash, Jonah showed incredible courage and instinct. He was seated in the back and protected his younger sister, who thankfully suffered only a few bruises.
Jonah is known for his strength, kindness, and dedication. He is a 17-year-old junior at Kingsford High School with a 3.9 GPA, an athlete who plays soccer and hockey, and like many kids his age, he was focused on school, sports, and his future — all of which now look very different.
We never imagined needing to ask for help like this, but we are asking now with humble hearts. Jonah has a long road ahead, and your support allows him to focus on healing while surrounded by love.
Any contribution — big or small — makes a meaningful difference. More than anything, we ask for your continued prayers. Jonah is strong, resilient, and deeply loved, and with faith and the support of this community, we believe he will find his way forward.
Thank you for every prayer, message, act of kindness, and donation. We are forever grateful!
