John "Shaggy" Morgan faces a new phase of his battle with Stage 4 Metastatic Colo-Rectal Cancer. He had mets to his liver and had sucessful surgery along with the resolve of tumors from chemo and was cancer free for 6months. Unfortunately, days before Christmas they found a re-emergence of a rectal tumor and after observation, PET scan and ultimately deciding to biopsy found mets to a lung nodule. He now faces aggressive chemo with an added agressive biological agent that will prevent him from working full work weeks for the unforeseeable future. This has added to the already significant financial hardship he has faced in this fight.
Shaggy has been a paramedic serving the Hudson Valley for over 25 years (and training half of all current providers it feels like). He's always been dedicated to helping others, being there for them in their times of need, for both his patients and collegues, as someone to lean on, rely on, and a friendly ear when they need it. In the last few years, he has been instrumental in developing and introducing the Green Line Guardians for first responder and military mental health and PTSD awareness and to serve as an online support group. And now it's time we gave a little back.
Shaggy has been managing so far but the impact on his time and finances is significantly increasing as time goes on and will only continue to increase as he is no longer able to work every other week during treatment.
Shaggy was my first partner and over the years has always been someone I can rely on when needed. I don't need to tell everyone how great of a guy he has always been. The positivity and support that has been shown so far has been monumental he feels, and has greatly affected his ability to "Keep Moving Forward".
Please help in any way you can.
