As many of you may know, both of my parents were diagnosed with cancer within a year of one another about 5 years ago. My mom was diagnosed first with esophageal cancer, followed by my dad with prostate cancer. While they underwent treatments of chemotherapy and radiation that did yield positive results, this past September my mom had biopsies which revealed that her cancer was back, and it had metastasized to her trachea. This news coming after my parents were finally able to crawl out of the debt/bills from the first go around (nearing $35,000 out of pocket, just for chemo/radiation treatments), and were starting to feel comfortable again. Over the past several months, my mom has been in and out of the hospitals both here and in Seattle, having undergone multiple procedures – most recently a feeding tube to help her obtain the nutrients she has been lacking. To further distress the situation, it’s become known that my dad’s cancer has also returned and has spread to some of his lymph nodes. All of this came to light during the holiday season which, as you can imagine, left quite the damper on what is usually my family’s favorite time of year. The bills are coming in for this second round, and are similar to that of previous years, which doesn’t include my dad’s ongoing chemo treatments, medication needs for both of my parents, the hospital bills, nor other medical bills and appointments. This has been the most difficult and uncertain times my parents have had to face, and no less, had to face together, trying to support one another while also attempting to get well again. The bills have piled up and while we never thought it would come to this, we have to accept the reality that we are in desperate need of help. We are asking anyone who sees this to please share and donate if possible, even if it’s not much it will still help. We are forever grateful for the love, support, prayers, and donations that come our way. Thank you for taking the time to hear their story, and thank you to everyone who helps in whatever way they can.
