A Miracle Match: Helping Joe & Laura Navigate Life After Transplant
Last fall, our family received the news that my brother-in-law, Joe, was diagnosed with liver cancer. Since then, he has fought through grueling radiation treatments to shrink his tumors, all with one goal: becoming eligible for a life-saving transplant.
On Tuesday, he finally reached that milestone and was placed on the transplant list. We expected a long wait, but less than 72 hours later, we got the call—they found a match.
While we are incredibly grateful for this miracle, the road ahead is a marathon. My sister, Laura, and Joe would never ask for help themselves—they are the most selfless people I know. That is why I am starting this fund for them.
The recovery process at Henry Ford Detroit is intense. For the first several weeks, they must travel to Detroit twice a week for specialized follow-up care and monitoring. Following that, they will be making weekly trips for several months.
Where your support goes: The "endless trips" to Detroit and the surrounding costs add up faster than anyone can prepare for. Your donations will go directly toward:
• Fuel & Travel Costs: Constant round-trips to Henry Ford Detroit.
• Hotel Stays: For when Joe needs to stay near the hospital for consecutive days of testing.
• Daily Expenses: Helping Laura manage their household and bills while Joe focuses on healing and she focuses on being his primary caregiver.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page. Every bit of relief we can provide allows them to focus on what matters most: Joe getting healthy and coming home to Laura.
Thank you for your love, prayers, and support for Joe and Laura
