Jim Willette is a man of integrity. He is an independent, kind, gracious man and wonderful father. When asked to describe their father, his kids used these words: amazing, hard working, kind, open-minded, selfless and would stop what he is doing to help anyone. Always putting the needs of others in front of his own. Although It is in his nature to always put everyone else first, Jim could use some help himself at the moment.
Jim has been diagnosed with a degenerative disc in his neck. In turn, he has lost the majority of feeling in his arms, hands and fingers rendering them almost useless. He is in debilitating pain so this has left one of the hardest working men I know, unable to work. Jim is a painter by trade and his duties have become nearly impossible to perform. He has not been able to work for over 3 weeks already and being self employed, unemployment compensation is not an option.
If left untreated, his condition can lead to permanent damage, and serious conditions such as spinal osteoarthritis, herniated discs, spinal stenosis and potentially paralysis.
He may not be able to return to work for a substantial amount of time. He is not currently medically insured so the medical bills are mounting along with his living expenses and obligations.
The next steps are a MRI and EMG (costing Jim out of pocket roughly $2000). Once those are completed, he can schedule surgery and go from there.
Jim is in the very beginning stages of medical care and has a long road ahead of him. We would like to ask that if you are able, that you donate any amount at all in order to allow Jim to focus on his recovery and get back to his normal life. If at all possible, we would like to help cover his expenses for the next 3-4 months. If anyone deserves the help, Jim does and would never ask for it on his own. Let's pull together and give this selfless man a hand he so much deserves.
