Helping Jill with out of pocket surgery costs

Donation protected

On February 25, Jill was the victim of a senseless and brutal act of domestic violence. After at least one devastating punch, she lost consciousness. After awaking from the attack, she was left on the ground, covered in blood, as she saw his truck leaving the scene. This behavior would be traumatic enough coming from a stranger, but even more so from someone that was a big part of her life. She has been brave enough to share her story openly in hopes of preventing another woman from being victimized by this man, Adam Sonnier.

Although he is still incarcerated and is held without bond, Jill has surgical procedures required to treat the injuries that she received at his hands. These procedures can’t wait, but neither can the bills. Jill is a hard-working single mom who provides a beautiful life for her son Jake. As a single mother, it’s impossible to cover the out-of-pocket expenses of dental and nasal/facial surgery while continuing to pay for daily expenses, including the absence of work during periods that will require recovery.

Injuries
Jill sustained numerous injuries, some of which will require urgent surgical repair.

Dental: She has a few shattered teeth, will be losing her front tooth and has to replace it with an implant, a root canal, as well as a procedure to treat her jaw. None of these are covered by her insurance and the cost of the procedures must be paid upfront. Dental work alone is nearly $10,000 out-of-pocket.

Nasal: She has a nasal fracture. There is still too much swelling at this point to determine the extent of the damage, but surgery will be required in addition to the downtime required to recover afterward.

PTSD: In addition to the procedural costs, maintaining the home, working full time, and covering Jake's needs, Jill deserves an opportunity to seek therapy to work through the PTSD that this situation has caused. It would be nice if the cost of therapy would be covered.

In support of her bravery and vulnerability, I created this GoFundMe to raise not only funds to support her throughout her recovery journey but also to support her strength in sharing her story. No woman under any circumstances should be subjected to domestic violence at any level, whether it is verbal, emotional, financial, or physical abuse. When victims of domestic violence break the silence and expose their abusers, not only does it prevent other innocent people from being victimized by the abuser, but it also makes other victims brave enough to speak out about their own abuse. Every little bit counts and any donations are appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please take a moment to share.
