Hi. My Name is Jessica Panter. After years of never thinking I could have more children aside from my 17 year old including having multiple miscarriages, I gave birth to a beautiful daughter Eliana Jade who has very severe complex needs. My entire pregnancy I was told by multiple doctors that she likely wouldn't survive and if she did, she would likely be very sick. I was monitored quite heavily throughout the entire pregnancy and my job grew tired with each passing appointment. Since birth on 12/9, Eliana spend the first 29 days of life in the NICU and was diagnosed with congenital hydrocephalus, rhombencephalosynapsis, and lissencephaly. This is all due to a rare genetic mutation in her genes that has only been reported 13 other times in all of the USA. She had shunt surgery after 6 days of life and is set to have another surgery this upcoming week for the stomach peg to get rid of her NG nose feeding tube. We also experienced her first seizure and have started prevention meds just last month. Despite this my baby is such a fighter and so full of life and personality. I asked my employer for a little longer of a leave to get through the other surgery and recovery but after 4 years at my job as a childcare administrator, my boss terminated my employment while on maternity leave due to thinking I could not handle the job and Eliana's needs. I have never asked for help with anything my entire life and have always worked a full time job in childcare well over 20 plus years. It goes without saying that working right now is nearly an impossible task as I do not think I will find anyone accommodating of our needs at this time. Any little bit will help us..
