Helping Jesse & Family

If anyone knows Jesse or myself, this would be the absolute last thing we would do. We talked back and forth about this, but I think we have to accept the fact that it’s okay to admit we need the help. We are usually the ones helping others, and never thought the day would come where we are now the ones asking help from others.

Jesse’s accident has put a huge financial hardship on our family- as he is the main provider for our family & bills- I didn’t want to have to think of the future, but I know that we don’t know what the future holds. I think we both know with the physical job Jesse was doing as a fire sprinkler fitter, will most likely not be an option in his future.

Jesse was involved in a snowmobile accident on January 21st. Currently his back is broken. The doctors said they are surprised he wasn’t paralyzed. They also said one of his vertebrae’s looks like it was smashed with a hammer, the other 4 are fractured, along with his ligaments torn. Jesse is currently in his body cast, and trying to focus on each day, as each day is unsure for him. Our main focus is keeping his pain under control & making sure he keeps his back very stable- because doctors said one wrong move could make him paralyzed. He returns back for x-rays in a couple more weeks, to see if the body cast is working- so we are able to continue to put surgery on hold for a later date. Jesse has a long road ahead of him, but we are just counting our blessings everyday that he is still here with us

2/26/22:

Before going into OR!

Jesse had his surgery on 2/24/22. He has been in the most pain he’s ever felt, even with pain management at the moment. They were able to do a spinal fusion & place rods from L4-T10. Which is the very lower back going up to mid back. They were also able to loosen up some nerves to relieve some swelling. The L1 vertebre that was bursted, they were able to remove the leftover bone fragments, so it was no longer pushing into his spinal cord area. One of the main reasons they were able to push surgery as fast as they did- as that would have led to even bigger complications. I’m thankful surgery was successful. I’m thankful for the good positive outcomes that have come out of this. But if there is one thing I have learned from this hardship, is that you should always appreciate what you have & never take it for granted- because at any given moment in time, life can truly change in the matter of seconds. We know these times are hard, but we also know it will pass. We are beyond thankful for everyone’s continued prayers and support. There are really no words to describe how much it means to us & our family!
