Earlier today, my friends Jenna and Sarah experienced a devastating loss when their apartment building was destroyed in a fast-moving, multi-building fire. The cause is still under investigation, but the fire began in the neighboring building and spread rapidly.

What makes this even more heartbreaking is that today was the very day Jenna and Sarah moved into their new apartment. They were spending their first afternoon settling in when they began to smell smoke. Thankfully, they were able to escape in time, and both of them—and their beloved cats—are safe. However, nearly everything they owned was lost in the fire.

In the immediate aftermath, they are being temporarily housed thanks to the generosity of their community. Even so, they are now facing the overwhelming reality of rebuilding from nothing—finding stable housing, replacing basic necessities, caring for their pets, and navigating all the unexpected costs that follow a disaster like this.

This fire has impacted many families and animals, and the road ahead will not be easy. Any support—whether through donations, sharing this fundraiser, or keeping them in your thoughts—means more than words can express. Every contribution will help ease the burden as Jenna and Sarah take their first steps toward recovery.
