Helping Jeff Durbin Recover
EDITS LISTED BELOW.
On the 3rd of May Jeff Durbin went to Urgent Care and has not been conscious in the ten days since. Jeff had emergency surgery which removed his spleen and most of his colon. He is considered to be in liver and kidney failure which means both are working at only 20% capacity. Updates are currently being made to his last Facebook post.
For every day that Jeff is sedated he will need three days physical rehabilitation to regain minimal mobility. So if Jeff woke up today he would need 30 days rehab. Jeff has no health insurance and his family and I believe he will not be able work again. Medicaid and other programs have been applied for but will not kick in for several months to a year at best.
His expenses outside of necessary medical care will also be tremendous as Jeff makes many necessary profound adjustments to his lifestyle.
On a personal note Jeff is my (Bill Burton) foster brother having lived with my family for two years in high school. But we don't use the word foster, Jeff is my Big Brother and a more beautiful soul I have not met. No one has a larger more wonderful heart. Here I am pointing out that Jeff is an amazing gardener/farmer.
Jeff's son Brent, his daughter Amber, and his sister Debra are behind this fundraising effort for Jeff. *ALL* funds collected will be provided to Jeff or Brent directly to aid in Jeff's recovery. Here is Jeff and his daughter Sam doing what he loves best, sitting in his boat fishing.
NOTE: I will match every dollar donated up to $1,000 so please give now. If you cannot donate at this time please pray for him. Jeff has a long, ugly road in front of him and will need all of our support.Another of Jeff's many hobbies is RC airplanes.
NOTE: A separate exists to make it easier to donate. Contributions to either location will *ALL* go to Jeff and his family to help them with this medical and financial burden.
EDIT 05/13: Second paragraph - clarified requirement for physical rehabilitation. Thanks to Debra for proofreading.
EDIT 05/14: First paragraph modified for accuracy in Jeff's initial medical condition. Thanks to Amber for the clarification.
