Helping Jason Lee on the road to walk again

On Monday February 17th, 2020 Jason Lee went in for an emergency back surgery. Unfortunately, this wasn’t his first time visiting the ER. The prior Saturday, he had numbness and tingling in his left leg and severe back pain. He described the numbness as his foot falling asleep, but it was his entire leg. His wife Allyson ended up having to call an ambulance due to his pain and immobility; they gave him morphine and he was told that it was just inflammation in the back muscles. Jason and Allyson were told that it probably wasn’t that severe. He was given prescription medication and sent home. The ER doctors didn’t bother doing an MRI or X-rays, like they should have. Despite the fact that Jason could barely walk due to the sever pain he was in and had to be escorted out in a wheelchair. Jason and Allyson were left to attempt to get him in his wheel chair, while the nurse left to print out his aftercare/discharge paperwork. When the nurse returned, it was more then obvious that Jason was debilitating state and in agonizing pain. The nurse ended up leaving the room, to ask the doctor for another set of shots for Jason, before they were finally released and got home at 11:45. When Jason woke up on Sunday morning, he wasn’t any better, in fact he began getting worse as his right leg started to go numb. At this point he was completely unable to get out of bed. Allyson was forced to call an ambulance yet again on Monday morning. Jason was taken back to the ER where they decided to do an MRI and discovered that his condition was in fact, far more severe. Jason was diagnosed with a ruptured herniated disc, causing a compression on his spinal cord. This led to an immediate, emergency surgery. After the surgery, Jason’s wife Allyson was approached by the doctor to let her know how the surgery had gone. Due to the fact that the proper precautious weren’t taken the first time around, it only caused more issues and less of a chance for Jason to gain full mobility back in his limbs. Allyson was informed that her new husband may only have a 15 to 20% chance of ever regaining the movement in his legs and feet back. This was a shock to not only Allyson’s system, but a shock to Jason’s entire family. We were all very taken back by this. For Allyson and Jason though, this could be the start of a huge life change, that could have possibly been prevented had the first time he’d gone to ER steps would have been done to dig deeper into what was causing his pain. This will be a huge adjustment for our family, but more importantly for Jason and Allyson. We are asking for you’re help and support as Jason begins this long journey of recovery and Allyson sticks by his side to help him along the way. Anything helps. We all know medical bills can be detrimental to our finances. Again, we thank you. Jason, Allyson, and family.
