Helping Janie Beat Cancer

Anyone who knows my mother Janie knows that she radiates positivity and love to all those around her. She has worked hard all her life and has become a fixture in the Mountain Home community for the past several decades working at our family restaurant, where many will recognize her. Unknown to many, my mother has been battling metastatic colorectal cancer over the past year and a half. She has gone through many cycles of chemotherapy as well as surgical procedures during this battle, but cancer continues to spread and is now found in both the liver and lungs. In its current state, no therapy is readily available in tackling this spreading tumor. However, after several referrals to cancer centers around the country, we were able to find a potential clinical trial for her at MD Anderson Cancer Center down in Houston, Texas. This trial is her best option at the moment, but funding this treatment is the biggest roadblock.

Anyone with a friend or family member that has gone through battles with cancer knows the feeling of helplessness you have in not being able to do more for that person. My mom has fought hard over the past year and continues to battle this disease. She can even still be found at the drive-through at Diamond Head on most days she is feeling well. She continues to be in good spirits but I know it has not been an easy road for her.

Our family has been fortunate enough to be able to cover a majority of her treatment up to this point, but we know the next hurdle in finding a solution is a difficult step. My mom is the last person that will go out and ask for help like this, so that is why I am doing it for her. We would be gracious to receive any help that we can.
