I’m starting this fundraiser for my friend Jake who was recently forced to stop working temporarily after he was diagnosed with myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart. Because of the risk of worsening the condition and the dangers associated, his cardiologist has strongly advised that he cannot return to his physically demanding job or exercise while it heals, which can take several months.
Jake’s job requires him to be physically active for long hours, move up and down staircases and carry heavy items throughout the shift. So he’s currently unable to work. Unfortunately, he also does not qualify for disability benefits yet because he hasn’t been with the company long enough.
Jake is doing everything he can to find temporary remote work (as well as other jobs that don't require physical exertion), but in the meantime bills don’t stop. We’re hoping to raise $3800 to help cover basic living expenses like rent, utilities, groceries, and medical costs during this recovery period. With follow-up visits to the cardiologist, copays and tests can cost a lot even after insurance, though his main concern right now is paying his rent and having enough money for food at least through the month of April.
If you’re able to help, even a small amount makes a difference. If 190 people gave $20, the goal would be reached.
