Helping Jake & Hannah
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Jade, and I'm starting this Gofundme for my younger brother and his family.
Jake, my brother, and Hannah, my sister-in-law, are newly engaged, with their second baby on the way. They are working towards building a house on Jake's property that has been in my brother's family for generations. They are working towards a bright and beautiful future with their little family, and I could not be more proud and thankful for them.
Unfortunately, on April 12th, an unexpected fire broke out in my brother's shop. This fire was devastating in so many ways. The shop has been on the property and in the family for generations. It was Jake's grandma's first house when they moved here, and then her son, Darnell Read, made it into his shop, workplace and livelihood. Jake's dad Darnell spent countless hours in this shop with Jake when he was young, teaching him how to work on vehicles and create a life for himself, educating him in automotive mechanics. When Darnell passed in 2015, Jake inherited the property and the shop and carried on a way of life by repairing, helping others, and now showing his young son the same way he learned with his dad. I guess I'm saying that the shop held incredible sentimental value. However, it also had a lifetime's worth of tools from Darnell and Jake. The fire broke out quickly, leaving absolutely nothing salvageable in the shop. Tools that had been accumulated over the years were gone, including a vehicle hoist, mechanical parts, electrical tools, tire pumps, tires, speakers, and everything else you might ever need or think of, was gone, just like that. The tools that my brother used to help him make a living for himself and for his family. Hannah's family also had storage surrounding the shop filled with their personal belongings that they had just got back from Newfoundland, including keepsakes, baby pictures, and renovation materials. All of which burnt up as well.
Being newly engaged and with another baby on the way, they were planning to fix up a house on the property. Unfortunately, with this unexpected event, a lot of what was needed to do that has burned up in the shop, and now they are working towards having everything cleaned up.
While we are so thankful that nobody was injured in the event, there was a significant financial loss. I care about my brother and his family and see how hard he works to care for everyone around him. So, I thought the least I could do was reach out to our community and maybe give something back to him. All proceeds will go towards regaining financial loss and the way they best see fit to continue building their future. Thank you for taking the time to read, and if you are unable to donate, please share.
