For Indie Authors: Let's Get into Bookstores and Libraries
I’m launching a new kind of publishing company—one that bridges the gap between independence and global reach, between creative control and wide distribution. This publishing house is built with authors at its heart. It’s called Vendela Publishing, and our mission is simple yet bold: We are an author-focused publishing house committed to transparency, affordability, and dependable teamwork as we open a door to global markets in collaboration with indie authors.
In the current publishing landscape, indie authors often face a difficult choice: maintain full creative control and be limited to selling through online platforms like Amazon, or sign over significant rights and design choices to a publisher for the chance at broader distribution. We believe there is a third way—one that honors the author’s voice, vision, and autonomy while unlocking access to bookstores and libraries through professional, distribution-ready publishing.
Our goal is to meet the submission standards for Ingram Distribution—an industry-leading wholesale distributor that provides books to independent bookstores, libraries, and academic institutions around the world. But to do that, we need startup capital. This fundraiser will help us cover the initial costs of setting up the legal infrastructure, hiring design and editorial professionals, acquiring ISBNs, and formatting books to meet Ingram’s specifications.
We are building a team of passionate book lovers—editors, designers, and marketing professionals—who are committed to treating authors with the respect and transparency they deserve. Our authors will retain their current Amazon presence and creative control, including cover design and interior layout, while we handle the details of production and distribution that open their work to new audiences.
This isn’t just about publishing books. It’s about creating a new model that supports the long-term success of indie authors without stripping away their independence. We will offer clear, upfront contracts with no hidden fees, no rights grabs, and no misleading promises. Our revenue will come from fair, transparent publishing packages—not royalties siphoned from authors’ work.
Your donation will help us:
• Establish our business legally and professionally
• Acquire experienced staff for project management, marketing, and production
• Acquire necessary tools, software, and ISBNs
• Cover the upfront costs of distribution setup with Ingram
• Begin working with our first round of talented indie authors
With your support, we can change the publishing game for writers who’ve poured their hearts into their work and deserve a real shot at getting into libraries and bookstores. You’re not just supporting a company—you’re helping to build a bridge between creative freedom and meaningful reach.
As the author and ghostwriter of 46 published titles, 30 years in the writing world, a wide network of connections within the writing community, and experience in business development and project management, I felt the call to launch this venture, and offer an a la carte model where the author only pays for what they need while still having access to global distribution.
If you believe in the power of stories, in the voices of underrepresented and independent authors, and in the importance of accessible, transparent publishing—please donate today and help us turn this vision into reality.
