Storms have hit Hawaii pretty hard recently. We have seen our local streets flooding, trees falling, and many other effects including loss of power to a large portion of the island. A local dam in Wahiawa was recently at risk of failure due to rainfall, and we have watched the downstream rivers and streams rise enough to flood numerous areas. Many of these flooded areas are known "camp-sites" where houseless locals store their belongings, as well as sleep. Hawaii has a very large houseless rate (one of the highest in the U.S.) meaning numerous people have experienced these storms without any shelter, dry clothing, or warm food. My loved ones and I will be going out on foot once the storms ease a bit to hand out warm foods, dry clothing, help with laundry expenses, provide tarps to keep belongings dry moving forward, etc. to as many individuals as possible. We are located on Oahu, Hawaii and will be visiting as many areas as possible on island. We will be doing this whether we receive any crowd-sourcing or not. This GoFundMe will help us reach a larger radius of individuals, and help more people than we can with our personal budgets. I will be posting content to my personal Tik-tok afterwards to share what we accomplish with this outreach event. Thank you for your time, and care. Much love and gratitude <3
