A newly single mom and her 3 children in our Sycamore community are in need of immediate help. She is in contact with a social worker, and is working through the process of accessing help through the county housing assistance programs, but with Covid, there are long waitlists and huge backlog of people needing help. They have bounced around to 7 different places (family, AirBnB, motel and now Extended Stays) in the last 3 months.

The mom is doing her best to insulate her children from the stress of their current situation, but their current resources are so limited they aren’t able to book stays longer than a few days anywhere, so they are constantly unpacking and then packing back up a few days later.

Her family is helping as much as they are able, yet she and her children will be facing homelessness as soon as next week.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: If you know of anyone that has a casita or in-law unit or/and are able to donate any $$ toward helping get them a month long stay at an Extended Stay, it would help her be able to focus on new long term housing and local employment, and they all would be so grateful. To protect her kids privacy as much as she can, she would like their names private, but had her pre-teen draw this cute stick family to at least have “a picture” for this campaign. She may share the link with personal contacts who have asked how they can help her, but for the purpose of our publicly sharing this GoFundMe, we have left off their name and actual photo.
