Helping HODG Do Good

Welcome to HODG!

For those of you who don’t know, HODG stands for HangOutDoGood, which is what we try to do. We are a 100% grassroots community. Our mission? To do whatever we can to make our city/state/country and world better for everyone, and to do that with a sense of joy and fun.

We are not like other groups. We don’t just focus on one thing. We like it better that way. When pushed, we say that our work falls into 3 big buckets:

One is political. We postcard, knock on doors, fundraise and organize community-based actions like walk-a-thons and state fairs to support Democrats on a local and national level. We also work on policy because we know it’s not just who’s in office, it’s what happens once they get there.

Another bucket is education. At HODG we believe we can always learn more. We hold all sorts of learning series, and approach everything as an opportunity to educate ourselves and our community.

Then there’s the third bucket which is all the dogoodery stuff we do. Whether it’s our Sunday Lunch Drive – which has provided more than a half a million homemade lunches to food insecure folks – or our Grocery Gang, or our clothing drives, HODG’s hearts and resources are open to provide our neighbors with whatever they need.

100% of your donation will go towards this work. We have never asked for financial support, and a few folks have paid for everything. But HODG has gotten too big, and too busy for that. Besides, we are about community building. Part of that means that the community supports the work, whether that’s buying stamps, or paying Pegah to do our Social Media, or paying for the Zoom platform we use for our learning and candidate series.

Because we do political work, we are NOT a 501c3. Nor are we a 501c4. We are just us. A group of folks, hanging out and trying our best to do good. And having a super fun time doing it.
