Our friend Brian Hinchliffe, who's been a member of the Nashville music community since 1993 -- playing bass, recording, writing, joke-telling and various other tasks -- has had an extremely challenging year health-wise, and that's putting it mildly. After fighting and beating cancer a few years ago, it was discovered last year that the disease had metastasized and was back for round 2. In addition, in February 2020, he will have to undergo significant back surgery to fuse his spine back together where the newly found tumor developed.
Over the last year, Brian has persevered through chemo, radiation and has been in and out of the hospital multiple times. The treatments seem to be working and slowing the progression of the disease. Through it all, he's maintained an incredibly "mostly" positive attitude and is doing his best to recover and get back to doing what he loves most, playing music! Unfortunately, all of this down time has not allowed him the ability earn a living from his primary job as a bass player and studio musician, and he could use some help to get through this rough patch.
Brian is a fighter and used to dealing with trials and tribulations. One time in the 80s when he was in a hair band, his Aqua Net-coated hair got stuck in the tuners of the lead player's guitar during a big solo, and Brian managed to dutifully finish playing the song, half-tipped over and being yanked around the stage by the guitar player until the very end.
This is just one of the many funny stories Brian has to tell about his career playing music, and he's not done yet. With a little help, my hope is that Brian will be back on stage very soon and making new memories in no time.
Any donation amount will be helpful, no matter how big or small. Thank you for considering. Much peace and love.
Warmest regards,
Friends of Brian
