The events of Wednesday August 11th were super scary for our family and my sister is continuing to recover. She woke up at the hospital with no memory of what was happening being told she had a brain bleed and was having seizures. So thankful for her husband and his quick response, keeping her safe until help could arrive. They did several scans and found that she has a cavernoma (malformation of blood vessels) on the right frontal brain lobe. Some of the blood vessels ruptured, causing a brain bleed which made her have 2 grand mal seizures. She is currently taking 1500mg of seizure medication daily, hopefully that will keep things at bay. She sees the neurologist Sept 30th for another MRI to see if the cavernoma needs to be resected, he seemed pretty certain that it would need to be. She can’t drive for at least 6 months and it isn’t recommended that she be alone with her children either (ages 12, 7, 5 & 8 weeks) just in case something else was to happen. Her husband is out of work with her for the time being, could be a while depending on if she has the surgery or not. He has paid time off but it’s only base pay so it barely covers the bills, he works for the state so he only gets paid once a month. She received her ambulance bill recently which was only 1/4 mile from her home and it was $613, insurance isn’t covering that. She’ll be getting another ambulance bill from where they transferred her to another hospital, that hospital is 42 miles away, so that’s gonna be another huge expense. Not to mention all of her appointments coming up are an hour away and the cost of gas etc. We appreciate everyone’s kindness, prayers and willingness to help!
