Helping Heath Come Back Home!

Donation protected
Early December, Heath experienced back pains that increased daily.  By end of December, numbness in his legs had started & it became difficult to walk, also unable to work. He went to Urgent Care & received a prescription to manage pain & was advised to come back for an injection if the pain did not cease.

After 2 weeks & no relief, Heath sought help at 2 other Medical Facilities, multiple appointments, 4 Doctors(3 specialists), & in his 4th MRI they found several bulged discs in his back.  Surgery was needed to fuse 4 of his vertebrae together with a titanium plate & was then scheduled for February 10th. Naturally worried about surgery, but he would finally have relief!

Heath came out of surgery & woke up to have no feeling from his waist down! He was sent back for an MRI(# 5) to hopefully find cause & remedy for this. The performing surgeon had later gone back to Heath's room informing him that his spinal cord was nicked during the procedure; resulting in having no feeling from the waist down. Also letting him know that the feeling may, or may not come back in some, or all of those body regions.

Presently at 10 weeks of hospital stay & extensive physical therapy relearning motor skills for simple daily function. He has gained back some feeling & is able to stand with a walker for 2.5 minutes, & with wheelchair for rest, he can walk 25 feet. Heath is now in a nursing home & until a wheelchair ramp(must be code) is in place, cannot go home. The bathroom also must be updated to accommodate his needs. His PTO & FMLA are exhausted, leaving him without a job & forced to use his 401K to pay bills/mortgage.

Heath is very proud & independent; not one to ever ask for assistance. He has a long road of PT ahead of him with hopes of 100% rehabilitation; for right now, he really needs our help! Kindly do what you can, & PLEASE KNOW your help to get him home is immensely appreciated! Priority #1 is the wheelchair ramp & bathroom with any additional funds used for bills/mortgage/living expenses. Thank you for your time, & take care!
