If you had to describe Perla, you would probably say she has an abundance of love to give. That she is full of life and that her personality is off the charts amazing. She can light up a room with her energy and laughter. She is compassionate. She is caring. She is selfless. She adores her family and friends, being active, being outdoors, and most of all, LOVES to dance.
What many don't know is that for the last couple of years she has been forced to slow way down. Not because she doesn't have the same drive. But because she has been struggling with the very thing that makes her such a wonderful person.... her heart.
Perla has been suffering from Mitral Valve Stenosis and Aortic Regurgitation. Mitral Valve Stenosis basically means that the valve has become stiff due to the calcification and restricts blood from entering the left atrium. Aortic Valve Regurgitation is when blood flows backwards into the heart instead of pumping out. Essentially what this means is that her heart has to work twice as hard which in turn makes Perla feel tired and have shortness of breathe.
We were trying to plan for a future procedure. Like a year down the road. But we were informed that doing so would be too risky for her and could lead to irreparable damage. The doctors told us that Perla would need to have her valves replaced sooner than later. Which brings us to this point.
We are asking for any sort of help through this time that we are facing. Your help will not only help with expenses, but will also give Perla the peace of mind she will need throughout her long recovery.
Of course we are nervous and scared about the procedure. But we are trying our best to focus into the future where this will all be a thing of the past. we are looking forward to graduations. To birthdays. To weddings and anniversaries. But personally, what I am looking forward to the most is the day when I can dance the night away with my wife.
