Photos are of Abigail Baker, a 2 year old girl from Masontown, West Virginia, who had open heart surgery at 8 months old. She has now developed a serious infection in her heart surgery incision caused by a rare bacteria.
I have created this GO FUND ME to help my daughter and son-in-law, Katelyn & Sebastian, with expenses while they care for Abigail during her upcoming hospitalization. She will likely be in the hospital for at least 10 days and, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the cafeteria is closed to visitors and Katelyn & Sebastian have no access to a frig or microwave to bring their own food. They end up having to eat out/carry in a lot of the time and that gets expensive. Sebastian is trying to work as much as he can, but will likely be losing some work hours and income. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Some backstory...Our little Abigail just turned 2 years old on 7/26/2020. In her short lifetime she had open heart surgery at 8 months old. That was a success, but unfortunately she developed a dangerous infection from a rare bacteria in her heart surgery incision and has been battling it for over 3 months now. She has been in and out of the hospital and has undergone several surgical procedures. She was doing well until Sunday, her birthday, when the wound started looking bad again. She will be admitted in a few days to have yet another surgical procedure to attempt to clear the stubborn infection.
Everyone who knows Abigail can see how brave and strong she is. She amazes me every day. She is going through so much, yet she remains a happy little girl....full of fun & energy. I'll post some pictures and give updates as often as I can.
