Helping Hattie Conquer Her Brain Tumour
Donation protected
Thanks to everyone near and far for coming to Support Hattie and her family as we try to unite them at this difficult time.
For those of you that don’t know Hattie’s journey thus far here it is:
When Hattie joined our family as an au pair in October, she was so excited for her Canadian adventure to start. She had been having headaches before she got here but shook it off as the excitement and stress of moving across the world. As time continued, the head aches worsened and many other odd symptoms started. After 6 months of trying different avenues to alleviate the pain, she went to the walk in clinic where the doctor sent her for a CT scan and than an MRI. Within a few days, she was seen and diagnosed at the University of Alberta Kaye clinic with a benign brain tumour that needs emergent surgery. The surgery is set for May 9, it will be a 12-14 hour surgery and she will be in recovery in the ICU for 10 days, and will have a 2-4 month recovery.
Although, the benign diagnosis makes us optimistic, it is still a fast growing and dangerous tumour and there is still a long road ahead which Hattie will need her mom and sister here to help and support her through this time. I am hoping to help their financial burdens as they will need flights over and home from the UK, accommodations in Edmonton while Hattie’s in surgery and recovering, and several weeks off work for all of them.
We want to thank you all for your support and help during this unimaginable time.
We will keep you all updated as the journey continues.
