Helping Harv’s Heart ❤️

Donation protected
The following statement comes from my best friend on the worst day of her life:

“Sunday night mine and Neil’s world turned upside down!! Our Harvey was rushed to A&E with chest pains shortness of breath, numbness and pins n needles to the left side of his body, pain in his neck And looking extremely grey! Thankfully his boss at work and the staff acted very quickly and rushed him to hospital,, I met him there to find him looking very poorly. I stayed with him until they had taken blood tests and wheeled him through, I wasn’t allowed to stay with him as he is now 19 and classed as an adult, (Covid restrictions). I walked around then decided to head home as we only live 5mins away, I got in and within 5 minutes got the call I never ever thought I would receive!! Consultant telling me you must come back your son is having a heart attack!!! His Troponin levels where through the roof and ECG all over the place!!

They transferred him immediately over to Papworth hospital for an emergency procedure to check his heart!! Harvey was so brave while being alone and had to have a camera put through his wrist up to his heart ❤️ that wait in the family room was the worst couple of hours of our lives! Not knowing what was going on what the outcome was going to be! Was our son having to have heart surgery!! Shock set in!!
My world was collapsing around me!

The surgeon came down after what seemed a life time of waiting, to tell us Harvey was awake and doing ok, And they had determined he had Myocarditis/pericarditis a very Inflamed heart which could have lead to a heart attack!

After more tests and MRI scan they have told us he now has damage to his heart and it is still very much inflamed which will take time to heal, because he is young and fit we hope he will make a full recovery but only time will tell, we have him home now with an array of medication and needing rest! (Which he does well lazy shit) more tests and MRI to follow to make sure he is moving forward to a complete recovery!!
Myocarditis is affecting young men more and more since the Covid 19 vaccination and Harvey has been unwell on and off since his 2nd Jab end of January, he has had throat infections chest infections runny nose and generally feeling like shite!
We didn’t think anything of it only that he was just run down a little,
Until something like this happens to your child/family you don’t think about it or research it,
I just want everyone to be aware of the symptoms and never feel bad about seeking help from Medics
No matter how mild or small the Symptoms are!!
It’s gonna be a long road ahead and until I know he is fully recovered with no lasting complications I will not sleep well ’

Harvey is such a great, funny, loving young man. He’s worked so hard in his training since leaving school, in oder to become a Chef, and he is doing so well at it!
Prior to this terrifying ordeal he was cycling to and from work with a daily round trip of approx 20 miles.

Harvey now has a bed on the sofa so he doesn’t use the stairs, he needs 3 months of complete rest to see if his heart can repair. Myocarditis can be a lasting condition and in three months time he will have another MRI to check his heart again. It is a waiting game to see if/how it heals….

Donna (Harvey’s mum) and I were pregnant together and we raised our beautiful babies into wonderful young adults. This is truly every parents worst nightmare and I know Donna & Neil will constantly worry for Harvey, and what this means for his future. I can only imagine the fear!

Wanting to help people you love but being unable to do anything has led me to creating this page; as clearly Harvey can no longer ride a bicycle 20+ miles a day to and from his job, I would like to try and raise funds to get him behind the wheel and driving. If we can raise enough for an intensive driving course - that would be amazing, any more than that would be life changing and go towards a car so he can get back to work and living life as he should ASAP.

Thank you for reading this far. Anything you can donate will be helping a great lad get on in life Xxx
