Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2)
On February 16, our parents shared with us the news our Dad, Harry was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). After a series of tests and meetings with medical personnel, Dad is set to begin chemotherapy treatment on March 8 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. We are told the first round of chemotherapy is the most important to battling his cancer, and we are asking for prayers for successful treatment and cure.
Needless to say, the news of Dad's diagnosis has rocked our worlds. Ironically, Dad has been described by each of his kids, and many others, as a rock. While he has responded exceptionally gracefully and with a powerful faith, he is understandably anxious as a result of the unexpected changes this diagnosis has brought, notably physically, occupationally, and financially, as well as with all of the impromptu planning needed for what the next several months may hold.
Those who know our dad, Harry, know how big is his heart for others, and how he strives to support and uplift those around him with humor, compassion, and wisdom. He rarely asks for help, and is always sure to pay back generously those who assist him. Now he is in great need, and we are asking those who know and love him to help carry his burden in a very real and practical way.
Specifically, we are asking for any who are able to donate to offset medical and other related expenses our parents will incur in the coming months, including offsetting loss of income. At a time when Dad needs to focus most on getting well, the last thing we want him to think about is finances. We so appreciate the overwhelming support Dad and our family have received by way of phone calls, messages, cards, and prayer. If you are able and feel so inclined, please consider contributing to this fundraiser.
Thank you for your prayerful consideration to donate to this fundraiser, and for your ongoing prayer and encouraging words to our parents and family.
*Note: Our parents (Harry and Debbie Deets) are not aware of this fundraiser and we respectfully ask no one mention to them.
