I am reaching out to get help for a dynamic retired educator, Mr Willoughby.
He taught for 28 years at Henry Clay and almost 10 years with Woodford County.
Mr. Willoughby is more than just a former teacher to many of us. He is a friend. He’s family to me, my wife and my kids.
I know that Mr Willoughby has done so much for many of you.
Now, Mr. Willoughby needs our help.
He suffers with type 2 diabetes and has arthritis in his hands, knees and elbows. The arthritis in his knees has led to an inability to walk without a walker because both knees are bone on bone.
A few years ago he was diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis, causing numbness and pain in all four limbs, making it even more difficult to walk.
It is extremely difficult for him to get in and out of his house as he has a curved flight of stairs he has to go up to get from his driveway to his living room.
Last week doctors found a tumor on his ureter and today he was diagnosed with Ureteral Cancer. He is waiting for a surgical appointment to remove the tumor and to explore weather or not the tumor has spread to the right kidney. The surgery will put him in the hospital for 2-3 days if it hasn’t spread to the kidneys. Doctors said it would be a 6-8 week recovery time and very difficult for him to walk up stairs.
Mr. Willoughby can’t afford the costs of a stair lift and would never ask for help but he desperately needs one to get in and out of his house. Please donate to support this amazing friend, teacher and mentor!
