Helping Hannah's Heart

Hello friends! My name is Daniela and I'm creating this fundraiser for my sister Hannah primarily to help with her medical bills.

On March 17th, Hannah was rushed to the hospital and then into emergency overnight heart surgery to replace her heart valve. They believe that at some point over the winter, Hannah got a Strep infection that traveled to her heart, eventually completely eroding her Mitral valve. Because her heart was unable to pump blood effectively before her surgery, eventually leading to heart failure, it caused many other medical issues, like a stroke, brain aneurysm, and kidney failure. She spent 3 weeks in the ICU on a number of life-saving devices, including dialysis, and several other procedures needed to support her heart and other organs. She has been fighting hard to recover and eventually was able to move to a regular medical floor for 1 week and then eventually discharged. Hannah still has a long road of recovery ahead of her. She will need to do continuous Physical and Occupational therapy in order to regain her strength with the hopes that she will be able to return to work sometime in 6-12 months.

Hannah was previously uninsured, but we were able to get her health coverage that started on April 1. The hospital also granted Hannah and Tim a 50% financial aid discount on the medical bills that accrued in March.

This is the part that we need your help with. While 50% is great, that still leaves a significant bill due from her initial surgery, subsequent procedures, and her first 2 weeks stay in the ICU. Tim also has had to significantly reduce his hours in order to be with and take care of Hannah. He spent every single moment possible with Hannah in the hospital and continues to take her to all of her outpatient appointments. AND Hannah and Tim's landlord is selling their building so they have to move imminently.

Our family is helping as much as we can, but we aren't able to replace Hannah and Tim's lost income or raise enough amongst ourselves for all of her bills.
