Hello! My name's Kim Howey and I am the mom of five amazing adult children and grandma to three beautiful grandbabies.
Today, my daughter, Hannah (24 years old), experienced a fire in her apartment. Hannah arrived home to find the smoke alarm going off and the apartment filled with smoke. She was able to rescue one of her two cats, Ichigo, and the firefighters rescued her second cat, Jonesey. Unfortunately, Hannah has lost the contents of her apartment and her beloved home. It is still too early to know how to navigate the lease agreement, renter's insurance, etc., but in the meantime, I know that just getting back to work requires replacing her wardrobe, hygiene needs, and new kitty supplies.
As a mom, it was devastating seeing her belongings coated in ashes and her home demolished by the fire. I am grateful she is safe and that the fire did not break out while she was home or asleep—secretly, every mom's nightmare. I am also glad the cats were rescued. It would have devastated her to lose them.
Anything you can contribute to help Hannah get back on her feet would be greatly appreciated. Our family has been blessed by the community of extended family that God has generously given to us throughout the years. Mark and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts! God Bless!
