(SEE 08/01 UPDATE) Hannah Greenwood is a 24-year-old alum of the University of Virginia ('22). Since she was 17, she has been living with Ulcerative Colitis. Despite the constant pain and medical complications caused by her illness, Hannah was able to successfully graduate in May 2022. Mere months before she was able to walk her graduation, however, Hannah's UC flared and required immediate surgery. Two months later, after a second surgery, her body rejected medical intervention. Since July 2022, Hannah has spent every month being routinely hospitalized, receiving invasive/IV medical treatment. Her and her family have visited several neighborhood hospitals, UVA hospital, the Mayo Clinic at Rochester, MN, the University of Chicago (where she received three emergency surgeries), and lastly New York Presbyterian, where her doctor is hopeful that an additional surgery will restore her to proper health. Due to these complications, Hannah has been disabled, unable to work and unable to walk. Tremendous costs have been incurred since 2022, including rent, hospital bills, transportation fees, insurance premiums, and college loans. Hannah and her family are asking you to aid in her ability to pay for these debts in the face of these extraordinary events. Alleviating this burden will allow Hannah to focus solely on healing while promising a life after recovery.
The goal amount reflects lost funds since May 2022 due to her illness. Hannah and her family thank you deeply for your time, donation, and for sharing this GoFundMe.
UPDATE 08/01: Hannah has recieved an unplanned surgery at New York Presbyterian. Like all the surgeries before, unfortunately, there were many complications with her recovery; however, she is now officially on the mend and expecting to be home soon. With the surprise of the surgery came equally surprising costs, and if you can donate to help cover transportation, food, and lodging as well as outstanding debts, we would be so grateful. Hannah is now one step closer to full recovery, with only one more surgery to go. Thank you so much for your care!
