I'm writing this against my mother's best wishes - she's the type that's too proud to ever ask for help despite always being the first to help others.
On Monday, February 10th, my mom's dog Hanki (the dog I've grown into adulthood with) suffered an unexpected tragedy. Around noon, her gait became erratic, like a drunken baby deer on ice. By nighttime, she couldn't stand up on all fours at all without immediately collapsing. We took her to the ER where they were able to triage and discover she had compression of discs in her spine and fluid causing inflammation and the lack of stability. The doctors couldn't believe how otherwise healthy she is for an 11-year-old dog and said in a lot of cases they wouldn't recommend the surgery. But Hanki is a part of the family and we weren't ready to lose her.
Thankfully, surgery was successful and there's a long road to recovery ahead. I understand times are tough and there are many other more serious hardships people have endured lately, but any amount helps chip away at what will be at least $10,000 in medical bills. Even if you can't donate, just sharing would help. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions and thanks in advance.
