For the past 6 years, Helping Hands Outreach Ministry, a Ministry of Faith Point Church, has dedicated itself to serving free hot meals, providing free clothing and groceries, giving out free backpacks and school supplies, Thanksgiving Baskets and toys to those in our local community. God has called us to take our ministry to the beautiful island of Jamaica to spark fires of love and hope into the school children all over Jamaica.
Our Purpose is Simple: To light up the Kingdom of God by infusing faith, hope and love to those with the greatest needs by focusing on childhood education in primary schools across Jamaica. We believe education plays a significant role in abolishing the cycle of poverty and violence, so we seek to plant these foundational values in school aged children.
Our First School: Franklin Town Primary, Kingston Jamaica
Franklin Town Primary currently has 210 students, 14 teachers and a total of 10 classes ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 6. The school's goals include increasing the number of students attending, focus on reading to assist under-performing students and developing after school programs and extra-curricular activities.
We will host a Back to School / Back to Love Event on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 10:00am to 3:00pm on site.
WISHLIST: We hope to provide the following for the school -
*Create a Computer Lab with 6 computers and 2 projectors
*Create a Library with over 250 books
250 backpacks with school supplies including books, pencils, pens, etc so each child has a back pack
*10 clocks for the classrooms / 1 microphone / 2 CD players with radios
*Grade Level reading books for Grades 1-6
*Stickers for Teachers (Rewards for good work)
*Laminating Machine with 3 pouches
*Create Extra-Curricular Activities by providing balls, games, jump ropes, etc
*Food barrel to help provide lunch for the children
*Barrel with school shoes for each child (250)
*Thank you gift for teachers and administrators
Our goals are pretty ambitious to say the least but I know the God I serve and I know that together we can bless these children in ways they could never have imagined. With God, all things are possible. With your help, we can put together a tremendous, unforgettable experience for the children at Franklin Town Primary that may very well change the course of their destiny.
