Dear Sir/Madam, Friends, Sponsors, Donors, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Warm Christian greetings!
Siquijor, island, south-central Philippines. Part of the central Visayan Islands archipelago is located in the Bohol ( Mindanao Sea ), 19 miles southeast of Negros Island. The early Spanish explorers called Isla De Fuegos ("Island of Fires") because of the myriad of fireflies they found there. The Filipinos revere the island as a center of mysticism in the Visayas.
Siquijor is known for its unique Philippine culture of blending Catholicism with traditional practices- a significant part of its people's cultural heritage and identity.
When I was a young boy, I heard different stories of conversions from the island from people who were giving up their amulets and other superstitious beliefs in favor of the gospel.
But right now, the island people still need to hear more of the good news of Jesus Christ.
With much prayer, somebody accepted the challenge to be an evangelist in Siquijor Island in the person of Mrs. Michelle Wahlen, a missionary by passion and a Music and Math teacher in profession. Along with our mission trip volunteers, we will reach out to the people of Siquijor.
Our mission trip evangelistic camp meeting will be on June 25-July 1, 2023, in one of the campsites in Lazi, Siquijor. The groundwork started a couple of months ago, and three Bible workers and the brethren are now working to prepare the evangelistic meeting. A church is needed here for the coming new members for their worship center.
This is our fifth mission trip, and God's love has touched many lives. The company of believers was formed and, churches were built, medical and dental services were rendered to the less fortunate as a result of your partnering with us in our mission trip projects.
As we prepare for this mission trip to the Philippines, we need to raise $9,000 to fund all necessary expenses, including giving free meals during the week-long evangelistic camp meeting. Your 20 dollars will mean a lot, and you could buy a new Bible for a new member, or with your 50 dollars, it can conduct a satellite (cottage meeting) or a care group meeting.
And with your hundred dollars, it can sponsor one Bible worker, youth and church volunteers. And with your one thousand dollars donation, it can conduct a free medical and dental mission to serve the poor and needy people of the island.
We trust He will provide for this project through your kind heart and selfless acts for this noble endeavor.
We will provide a tax-deductible receipt for every dollar you give. If you can't donate online, please write a check payable to Negros Oriental Siquijor Mission, and we will remit it to Negros Oriental-Siquijor Mission of SDA office in Sibulan, Negros Oriental, Philippines, once we arrive there.
Please pray for us as we spread the love of God for the people of Siquijor.
Thank you very much for your kind consideration as you partner with us for God's cause. We will give a plaque of appreciation for a certain amount you give once the mission trip is over.
And finally, here is the promise of God if you give liberally in Luke 6:38 (AMP). "Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure--pressed down, shaken together, and running over [with no space left for more]. For with the standard of measurement you use [when you do good to others], it will be measured to you in return."
"Well, says one, the calls keep coming to give the cause; I am weary of giving. Are you? Then let me ask: Are you weary of receiving from God's benevolent hand? Not until He ceases to bless you will you cease to be under bonds to return to Him the portion He claims. He blesses you that it may be in your power to bless others." Stewardship p. 78
We will be forever grateful if you could help by supporting this missionary work.
May God bless you always!
Yours in Christ’s Service,
Edgar G. Lopez
