Hello we are setting this fund to help raise money for Matthew and his family. Matt became unexpectedly ill a week ago Wednesday. He woke up as usual and got ready for the day he had a sore and noticed a little swelling on his knuckle on his right hand. Just thinking maybe he was getting a cold got some cough drops and went about his day. As the day went on he felt much worse and began experiencing flu like symptoms. His hand had also began swelling more. That evening he felt so sick he spent the rest of the day and night in bed. By this time his hand had swelled more and his kids told him he needed to go get it looked at. He knew he needed to but he felt too bad to go. The next morning he was still quite sick in bed and had to call into work ( which is not like him), his hands swelling got to a point my nephew sent a message to his girlfriend, Mel, with a picture of his hand because he was really concerned about it. She agreed and was concerned to so she came a picked up Matt and took to the hospital. When he got to the hospital he tested positive for Strep throat. They were concerned about his hand and got CT scan they could see there was an infection in it. His hand continued to swell, and the dr decided he needed to have surgery on it to get the infection out of it. The next day he had surgery again and the Doctors confirmed he had a flesh eating infection ( necrotizing fasciitis). Matt was extremely fortunate to have gone to the hospital when he did because the infection could have been fatal. Matt has had 4 surgeries on his arm/ hand, he has another one on Friday the 19th . It’s unknown the number of surgeries he will need to repair the damage. He is heading in the right direction it will just take time. He has 3 dressing changes a day. Without knowing how long it will take to heal he will be out of work during it.

Anyone who knows Matt knows how hard of a worker he is , he is a single father raising his youngest 2 children. He is dedicated to raising them to work hard, apply themselves, do good in school, and play sports. He is also a coach and pours into the lives of other kids also pushing them to be the best they can be. If you feel led to give to help with medical cost, meals, daily living, funds possibly to get transportation to things if he’s not able to drive for a while. This will be a long journey for him and if we can help ease the financial burden it will help him be able to heal. If you’re not able to give please pray for him. May God bless you!
