Helping Hands for Julia, Ryan and baby Joseph

Hello,

My name is Julia Tremblay Nantais and my husband is Ryan Nantais. We would like to introduce you to our son, Joseph Reginald Nantais, and tell our story.

Our beautiful baby came into this world at 39 weeks in less than ideal circumstances. Our son was born by emergency c- section at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston on Saturday February 11th 2023, weighing 7lbs 10 oz and 19.25" in length. Joseph was delivered at 8 am but his first breath was at 8:10 am. He was stillborn and had to be resuscitated. He was immediately placed on life support and transported to SickKids Hospital in Toronto. All our lives and future plans changed dramatically that day.

Joseph fought for his life along with all the SickKids medical NICU staff. The Doctors investigation determined the physical switch of the heart and lungs was a difficult process for Joseph to make at birth. For the delicate nature of a baby they are incredibly resilient and adaptive. We continue to remain hopeful for the very best outcomes for Joseph.

The Doctors informed us the anticipated timeline that Joseph may leave the hospital is mid-April. We realized then that we needed some additional help. We are doing our best under these circumstances.

We currently have a room at the Ronald McDonald House in Toronto so we can spend as much time as possible at Joseph's bedside. Ryan has been traveling daily to take care of the responsibilities at home, including our lovely but anxiety ridden cat that has underlying health concerns.

The following is a financial breakdown that determined the amount needed to help cover some of the expenses that were not anticipated in our budget. Any support from our family, friends and community would be immensely appreciated.

Cost breakdown;

● Parking - 600.00

(10.00/day x 60 days)

● Gas - 1780.00

(200 km round trip x 60 days)

● Incidental - 1200.00 x 2

(20.00/day per person x 60 days)

This event has been incredibly difficult and heartbreaking for everyone, but felt most intensely by us as Joseph's parents. Both Ryan and I believe in the power of prayer and positivity. We know they have been instrumental in our brave little man’s progress. It is impossible for Ryan, Joseph and myself to express the depth of our gratitude for your prayers, kindness, generosity and support.

These acts have filled our hearts with gratitude, love and most importantly hope.
