Hi, my name is Alexis Sankofa. I’m a high school friend of Chanda’s and I’m raising money on her behalf.

In the beginning of January 2023, she suffered a devastating loss. She awoke early one morning in severe agony that led to a series of medical events, including 4 surgeries, that culminated in her losing the bottom half of her right leg.

Anyone that has been blessed enough to know her in this life would describe her as deeply kind and very hard working. Obviously this is an event that you wouldn’t wish on anyone. But, it’s particularly cruel that it’s happening to someone as self-sufficient, positive and golden-hearted as Chanda.

She has endured months of agonizing wound care and rehabilitation but still has a long way to go before she will begin the process of being fitted for prosthetics.

Needless to say she has not been back to work and backups like FMLA and disability have either run out or are running out. While she has been lucky enough to have the love and support of family she will soon face having to return home and to the reality of monthly expenses, medical bills, and the costs of modifying her home and vehicle to accommodate her new disability.
