Hello everyone! My name is Nayaleah Tucker-Belt; I am a WWU senior and this fundraiser is for one of my classes. I chose to raise money for a cause near and dear to my heart; my home town and mental health. To be more specific- I will be raising money for the staff at FHMS and FHHS to be trained to implement a Social Emotional Learning Curriculum during advisory for both the middle and high school.  

A lot of the push to implement this curriculum comes from the tough year we've all had. We are seeing higher rates of anxiety, depression, and general unwellness among our students so this is in an effort to give them skills to cope and rebuild some of the connection/community we have lost this last year. We also know academics improve when students are exposed to SEL work, and employers are increasingly looking for the skills that SEL teaches like communication, teamwork, problem solving, etc. rather than just technical skills. 

I have included some links regarding the curriculum that the school will be purchasing, which training the staff will need, as well as some statistics regarding the benefits of Social Emotional Learning (SEL).
