Helping Hand for the Torres Family
Donation protected
Braulio Torres, arguably our longest serving and hardest working staff member, lost his father and younger brother to an unspeakable family tragedy. This has been a horrible blow to the Torres family and they could use our help. The proceeds from this gofundme will be used at the Torres family’s discretion.
Rather than discuss the details of the tragedy, which I’m sure the family would like to stay as confidential as possible, I would like to tell you something that I think encapsulates what I know and love about Braulio:
Last weekend, his oldest daughter, Jocelyn, graduated from the University of Washington. She is the first person in her family, from both her mother and her father’s side to graduate from college. On her graduation cap (translated from Spanish), it reads: “for my family, who came here with nothing and gave us everything.” Braulio came to this country almost twenty years ago and has worked constantly, day and night, to provide for his family and to create a future for his children. Knowing where Braulio and his family were twenty years ago, this is an astounding achievement. The fact that this tragedy happened on this weekend, which was meant to be a time of celebration, is as cruel as it is heartbreaking.
So please, if you are able, donate to this gofundme. Unfortunately, due to the circumstances of this tragedy, confidentiality is a priority. Please do not share this gofundme to friends via social media. If you have some generous friends you think would be able and willing to contribute, please send this to them via text or email.
Thank you.
