My name is Jennifer and I am Krystal's best friend. I wanted to start a gofund me to help raise money for Krystal for her medical expenses that she has and will have through her road to recovery. This surgery may sound familiar to many of you because unfortunately her brother Steven is still recovering from the same surgery. On December 3rd, Krystal had a life altering major surgery for the removal of her entire stomach (gastrectomy). The reason this preventive measure was taken was because she has a rare genetic mutation of the Adenomatous Polyposis Coli (APC) gene which causes Familial Adenomatos polyposis(FAP). Only 26 families in the world are identified as having this and Krystal and Steve are one of the families. This rare genetic mutation that she has, causes massive amount of polyps in the stomach, which causes gastric cancer in 100% of the cases. The removal of the stomach was the best preventive medicine that could have been done for her to prevent cancer later on in life. The surgery went very well for Krystal and now she has a long road to recovery ahead of her. Any donation is appreciated as this was an unexpected life changing surgery and the short time frame from diagnosis to the surgery didn't give much time to financially prepare for this and during recovery.
