Helping Hand for Jeanna

As many of you know, a very important member of our community has been experiencing some serious medical complications. Jeanna Moore and her entire family have been an important part of my life for many years. She would be the last to ask for help for herself, but is the first to help others in need.

This journey started back in August of 2022. Jeanna was not feeling good and decided she needed to be seen immediately. Soon after arriving to OSF St. Luke Emergency Department, they found both kidneys were blocked. She was then transferred to OSF St. Francis in Peoria. Unfortunately, her condition was not improving. After numerous different test and procedures, answers were still not being found and her condition was only worsening. After talking over with medical professionals and her family, Jeanna began medical treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Jeanna has spent a great deal of time in Rochester, and was finally able to have surgery in January. This surgery was 7 hours long and was very extensive. For Jeanna’s privacy, I will not list everything that surgery entailed. They were able to take care of a great deal of the complications. They were also able to remove the tumor that was found in previous scans. We are still awaiting the pathology results to find out exactly what that tumor consisted of. We are all hoping for the best. This journey is no where near done and has caused a hardship nobody deserves to deal with. Jeanna has missed a good amount of work for her numerous doctor visits and traveling back and forth to Minnesota. Her most recent surgery requires her to be out of work for at least 6 weeks. She is currently at Mayo Clinic for follow up appointments and has another visit in March.

While none of us can make this situation better, I’m hoping we as a community can help take some of the financial burden off of their family. Jeanna is a tough cookie and will be back to herself in no time, but until she is, let’s show her some of kindness and love she has shown many of us.
