Helping Hand for Becky
Donation protected
Just a few weeks ago, life was normal for our family. Then, our middle sister, Becky, went for her annual mammogram and everything changed.
Becky had breast cancer 13 years ago. She was treated with radiation and the cancer was cleared til now. A large mass was recently found in her breast and has spread to her lymph nodes. The doctors told her that it is a Invasive Mammary Carcinoma, Grade 3. It is a ugly, angry cancer. Fast spreading.
Since Becky had radiation to combat her cancer the first time, she can't have radiation again, she will have to be treated with chemotherapy. So, next week she goes to the hospital to have a port inserted, then her chemo treatments will begin immediately. It has been a whirl wind, going to several doctor visits, endless blood work, echo cardiogram, brain scan and body scan, that she has had to endure. She is on pins and needles just waiting for her scan results. We are praying that the cancer has not spread. I will keep everyone posted with those results as we hear. Following her months of chemo treatments, she will have to have a mastectomy.
This week, when Becky was told that she will lose her long beautiful hair to the chemotherapy, she decided to donate her hair to Wigs For Kids.Org. This non profit organization which collects hair and donations to make wigs for children who have lost their hair due to illness, etc. We will have a Celebration this Sunday at their Church with Family and Friends to be with Becky, as she has her hair cut. She said "I'm going to lose my hair and I want someone to benefit from it" . Plus, she did not want to scare her two year old grandson by showing up with no hair. This is a perfect example of Becky's ever giving heart , help and compassion for others. The day, that she met with her Oncology Doctor and received the news of her treatments and what to expect, Becky did not go home and feel sorry for herself, instead, that evening, she went to the Local Mission for the Homeless and volunteered to help serve meals to those patrons. This is something that she has done unselfishly in the past. You know you can always depend on Becky if you ever needed anything. She is always there to give a helping hand and now she needs our help.
My sisters family are honest and hardworking people. Becky won't be able to work, her husband works 2 jobs just to make ends meet. They are putting two children thru college. Just when they think they are getting ahead, life throws in another wrench. They are a proud family and are always there to help others before themselves. That's why I am reaching out for my sister. We love her with all our heart and only want them not to have to worry about how they are going to have to pay for that next medical bill, or mortgage payment, or heating bill, or college payment or travel to doctor appoints, or prescriptions, etc. That's why I am only asking for a small Helping Hand For Becky.
Myself, our Siblings, our Spouses and Parents are helping where we can. Not to mention all the support from Family and Friends. But, time is of the essence for our Becky. Cancer waits for no one. Neither do the bills. Anything that anyone can donate will be greatly appreciated. It will give Becky time to heal and get well, and not to have to burden her and her family with the added stress and worry about how things are going to get paid.
Thank you for your time and your donation. And may God Bless all of you with good health and happiness.
