Helping Hand For A Lahaina Resident

Aloha, my name is Lena. My mother, Betty Tsugawa, is one of the many thousands of residents of Lahaina who have had their lives affected by the fires that happened on Maui. Lahaina was once known as the capital of Hawaii and in a matter of hours, all its charm and history was turned to ashes. With the amount of destruction totaling over a billion dollars and the death toll climbing, this event is being called the worst natural disaster since Hawaii became a state.

My mom is one of the residents whose home was completely turned to ash. Thankfully she is safe but like many of her neighbors with the lack of warning and the strong winds spreading the fires so quickly, she evacuated with very little.

Our family has been grateful for how many people have reached out asking what could they do to help. Many have suggested creating this Go Fund Me page for family and friends who wish to donate and help my mom start over.
