Help Haley Meet Her Healthcare Needs
Donation protected
With permission from Haley’s mother Dana and grandmother Elaine, I am starting this Gofundme campaign in an effort to support this incredibly strong, dedicated, loving but exhausted group of women.
Haley’s Story
Haley Bell is a beautiful 26 years old woman who has faced extraordinary challenges since birth. She was born October 17, 1994 to Dana Pyne Stevens in Knoxville, Tennessee. It was clear from day one that Haley would require special care and treatment for several complicated conditions. With the love and support of Haley’s mother, grandmothers Elaine and Peggy, and help from insurance provided home health aides, Haley received the care she needed as an infant and adolescent. As she has gotten older, her care team has diminished along with the coverage associated with transitioning from minor insurance benefits to adult insurance benefits on (Tenncare)Medicaid. Her caregivers are now exclusively her mother, her grandmother Elaine and an occasional CNA despite the fact her health conditions have become increasingly more complicated, demanding and dire.
Some of Haley’s diagnosis include:
Cerebral Palsy
Seizure Disorder
Severe Scoliosis
Diabetes Insipidis
Swallowing Disorder
Blindness
She has had several stints in the hospital this year as a result of aspirating in her sleep. This has lead to pneumonia and other complications like blood clots and seizures. Haley is currently at home but her caregivers are struggling to meet the demanding needs of Haley’s multiple conditions. Tenncare is supposed to provide 30 hours of CNA help per week to assist with basic tasks such as bathing and feeding but due to staff shortages and unvaccinated staff, they have not been able to offer any relief. The insurance is also not providing the skilled nursing help Haley really needs to ensure that she is comfortable and receiving the care she deserves to prevent unnecessary suffering.
Here is where Haley needs
your help!
Haley’s family does not have the financial means to meet Haley’s healthcare needs.
In recap, the purpose of this campaign is to provide:
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please consider donating whatever you can to help these extraordinary caregivers better serve Haley. God bless!

Haley’s family does not have the financial means to meet Haley’s healthcare needs.
- Her Diabetes Insipidis causes her to be extremely thirsty but she requires special drinks as a result of her swallowing disorder. Insurance only pays a small portion of what Haley actually needs to survive.
- Because of Haley’s propensity for aspirating when laying flat, she needs a hospital bed that can keep her upright. The goal is to get a full or queen sized bed so that Dana can lay next to her to comfort her.
- The last thing I am asking for, on behalf of not only Haley but her extremely exhausted, nonstop caregiving mother and grandmother is an allowance for a skilled nurse to come ideally several days a week so that these women can take care of themselves, go to the grocery store, take a shower, take a nap, or do whatever else they need to do to recharge their batteries.
In recap, the purpose of this campaign is to provide:
- Nutrition for Haley’s survival
- A bed that helps prevent aspirating
- Skilled nurse’s help
