Hello everyone!
“My beautiful grandmother is a WWll veteran and will be 101 years of age in November, and my uncle is in his early 70s with poor health. Both have worked very hard in their years to support themselves and family, (grandma was a young widow who raised 4 children on her own), and even now are having a hard time allowing themselves to ask for help, even from family. Since hurricane Idalia came through, it’s been a whirlwind of emotions and putting all our time and resources together to all do for them what we are able. Our family humbly asks for help if you are able, even if you just share this post, it is all appreciated so very much. ❤️“ written by: M.A.N.
I am raising money to help my soon to be 101 year old grandma, who is also a WWII veteran, and uncle who has medical issues.
A couple of weeks ago, Hurricane Idalia came up the big bend area of Florida and a tree fell on my grandmother and uncles mobile home. It fell right into my grandmother’s room to where had she been in bed, she would not be here with us today.
The sheriffs office came and told them that they needed to leave the home due to it being unsafe and inhabitable. They were only able to collect the basic necessities. We have secured them a rental home while their new home is ordered, built and delivered/installed.
My uncle did not have insurance on the home so they are not able to claim it. We were able to apply to FEMA for assistance but unfortunately they are offering only a few months worth of rent.
As of now, the tree is still in their home and is in the process of being removed. Unfortunately this means the home has been exposed to the outside elements for a little while. My fear is that they will not be able to salvage much from their home.
The money that is raised will help offset costs that this damage/uprooting has/will cause. Any little bit helps tremendously and I know they will have no words except “Thank You”.
