Golden State Great Pyrenees Rescue & Sanctuary began with two dreams I've had since childhood: rescuing animals and having sheep.

Those dreams eventually came together when three rescued dairy sheep led me to livestock guardian dogs—and ultimately to Golden State.

I sold my first home to purchase the property where Golden State began. From 2023 through 2025, I funded the rescue with my own savings and income and have personally invested more than $200,000, not including the property itself.

Now, I'm preparing to sell that property so Golden State can take its next step.

We've saved more than 300 dogs. Today, approximately 150 dogs depend on Golden State through our sanctuary and foster network.

But we've reached a point I hoped wouldn't come.

We've outgrown our home

For months, we've worked with Animal Control and Code Enforcement trying to find a way to remain here. This isn't about complaints or the care of our animals. It's about what this property can legally and practically support.

Our foster network gives us tremendous capacity, but fosters are temporary. When a placement ends, we need somewhere appropriate for that dog to come back to.

We've also had to stop our income-producing livestock guardian dog training program because there simply isn't enough room to operate it alongside the rescue.

We had two choices:

Shrink Golden State —or find land that fits the rescue we've become.

We chose to move.

Our goal is approximately 40 acres.

We're not trying to put 150 dogs on 40 acres. We're building the safety net behind those dogs—with room for sanctuary, livestock, working LGDs, training, rehabilitation and dogs returning from foster homes.

And we're not starting from zero.

$350,000 has already been committed.

An incredible donor has given us the opportunity to make this happen.

Now we're raising $300,000 help us make this move possible.

These funds will help secure and prepare Golden State's permanent home, including property acquisition, fencing, animal areas, water infrastructure, livestock areas, quarantine setup, security and relocation expenses.

I don't need a bigger house.

Golden State needs more land.

More land means that when a foster can no longer keep one of our dogs, instead of wondering where we're going to put them, we can finally say:

“Bring them home.”

Because real estate can change during negotiations and inspections, this campaign is for Golden State's permanent relocation and is not dependent on one specific property.

And if you own land or a ranch you've considered donating to a nonprofit animal rescue, we would love to hear from you.

We're not asking you to help us start a rescue.
The rescue already exists.
The dogs are here.
The foster network is here.
The livestock are here.

We're asking you to help us make sure everything we've built has somewhere to go.
