After doing her standard mammogram, Ezzy (aka Essie aka Esmeralda aka Ayala aka Carson) got the call we all fear, to come back in for additional imaging because they saw something. It turned out to be a malignant tumor. Essie was a warrior from the beginning with Jimmy and the rest of her army right by her side. She launched into fight mode, found the hospital she was most comfortable with, Cancer Treatment Centers of America and began her fight.
Essie has been on a long road filled with multiple surgeries including a mastectomy, radiation, pain, fatigue, nausea, etc. For anyone who knows her, you will not be surprised to hear that she has been amazingly strong during this entire process - never complaining or moaning or feeling self-pity. Instead, she has been the same amazing strong woman we all know, PRAISING God for lifting her through this experience and giving her the strength she needs to get through it all, advocating regular mammograms to her family and friends, and doing all the normal day-to-day things a mom has to do.
Her and Jimmy have not asked for help financially because they really wanted to try do this on their own. They didn't want to "burden" anyone. They've been doing a tremendous job, but they need some help now. Again, for anyone that knows her, Ezzy would give the shirt off her back, the last money before her next pay check, time, energy, love, prayer, ANYTHING someone might need to help them. She has been, since the day I met her when we were 6 years old one of the most caring, generous, humble, authentic people I have ever met. She would do anything for anyone (yes, even strangers - I've seen it!) and Jimmy is always willing as well, right by her side supporting her beautiful, loving heart.
Now, the woman who has always rallied around everyone else, needs our help. If you are willing and able to spare something to help during her time of need, please do so. ANY little bit helps - it all adds up. On behalf of all her family and friends, money and bills is not what we want her focus to be on or to be stressing her right now. We need her mind set on overcoming this so we (especially her beautiful children Nia nd Novo) have MANY more years of her beautiful smile and laugh and her giving, loving spirit.
