Helping Enoch and Mary Weather the Storm

From Enoch: Folks, let me tell you a little bit about my best friend. Most of you know by now that I moved to New York right before the big shut down. What many of you don't know is that it didn't happen by accident. What was meant to be an extended visit before Scream's European tour has turned into 15 months of friendship and support.

Everyone, meet Mary, my DP, my day one and the biggest pain in the ass I know. Through a global pandemic, the chaos of BLM and the end of the Trump regime we have been locked down together since March of last year. She gave me a place to reflect, work on my music and get well.

In January 2020, Mary was suffering from what she thought was a stomach bug. It turned out to be type 1 diabetes (unusual for adults to get!) and after an ICU stay and some time with an endocrinologist, we thought she was on the mend. Come summer, the complications set in and by October we realized her autoimmune condition was shutting down her digestive organs. Lots of tests, lots of doctors and a surgery later, once again we thought we were past the worst of it. In February, I found her passed out on our bathroom floor and things have gone off the rails since then. In March, we discovered that her condition had moved on to her heart and diaphragm. Cardiology and neurology have preemptively diagnosed her with multiple system atrophy . Her condition has left her unable to work and we are in a bind while we get my music back on track and her disability case to move forward.

We thrived during the pandemic. When her full time job was cut in half early on, we became Instacart Ninjas and she took a second job at Whole Foods. I didn't qualify for unemployment and my tour with Scream (and any other music opportunities, really) were put on hold. While we were financially solid under quarantine, she used her stimulus checks to buy art and music and support our friends when they were struggling. We headed into this year confident things would be better. And they will be. But right now, we are in a rough position.

As of now, I am her caregiver, bonus dad to her kids, catdad of three and beloved companion of Shadow, the dog you see in my adventures. Mary's health insurance is covering most of what she needs medically, but we are constantly being confronted with new expenses we weren't anticipating, from an all terrain walker to complimenetary therapies to a new home that will be better suited for what her medical team has us referring to as her 'new normal'. We also need help getting me back on the road with some new projects I have going here and get myself ready to record with Scream later this year. We are looking for funds to offset her medical costs, enable us to move, help cover her lost income before the disability comes and get me back onto my feet again so I can better support her moving forward.

If you can't give here, please share the heck out of this and help in a big way for free. If you know me, you understand what a private person I am and what it means that I am pulling back the curtain on my life here in Troy... Thank you, God Bless and much love.

From Mary: I am notoriously horrible at asking for help but if ever a situation required me to let down my defenses, it is now. We have done everything we can to keep things going but now my half of our team isn't hustle worthy. Enoch has been shouldering the bulk of the work when it comes to my kids, the animals, the house and my personal care. I can't imagine having gone through all of this without him. My biggest wish right now after we get things sorted out on the home front is to be able to let him move forward with his music, but I know he won't unless he knows the kids and the animals and I are safe here at home. By year's end I am hopeful that my disability case will be settled and I will have some home staff in place so my guy can go out and do something for himself, for once, through all of this without worrying about my health or whether someone is here to make breakfast for my kiddos. Anyone else would have walked out, but this guy stays. Every day is all abou taking care of us and I am so blessed and thankful for everything he does. I don't want to think about what these last several months would have been like without him. It hasn't been easy, especially not for him, but somehow we haven't killed each other yet. Big ups to those of you who have been aware of what is going on here and for all of your love and support as well. As E mentioned above, every little bit helps, especially a quick click to share our story! We love and cherish each and every one of you.
