Physical Therapy for Ellie, an SCI Patient

After a car accident left her paralyzed from the waist down, Ellie was told at 17 years old that she would never be able to walk again. I'll never forget the day I stood in a hospital hallway, along with other friends and family, as a doctor told us that her life would never be the same. And it hasn't.
Growing up with Ellie and being best friends for a good chunk of our lives, I’ve seen Ellie always have a positive attitude even through tough situations. And even though she has struggled through every day, she has been determined to not give up on herself. She believes that everything happens for a reason, and didn’t feel any differently about this situation, no matter how awful it was.
She has been working towards getting back on her feet now at SCI-FIT Fresno, a physical therapy organization for spinal cord injury patients, for about a year. Up until a few days ago, she hasn’t had to worry about funding because an anonymous donor was generous paying for her physical therapy. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, Ellie’s sponsor can’t pay for her therapy anymore, and insurance doesn't cover anything. She has continued to make progress over the last year, and is just now starting to be able to hold her legs locked out on her own, which is a HUGE step toward being able to walk completely on her own again! Because she travels hours every week to attend her PT, she is looking to move to Fresno so that she can work on walking every day. It’s sad to think that someone so determined to do the impossible, someone who went through so much trauma, isn’t able to do so simply because of finances. Since she only has the rest of the month of June paid for, it's very crucial that she come up with the funds before the month ends. We are looking to cover at least 2 months of therapy, or until we find a permanent sponsor. -> We are also looking to find a permanent sponsor(s) to stick with her on this journey for the months to come, so that she can prove those doctors wrong! ANYTHING HELPS!
